Meet Dr. Richey
Dr. Richey has been a helping professional since 1998. After graduating from Freed-Hardeman University with a BS in Communication, he entered the ministry. He has preached for the churches of Christ since that time. To better prepare himself, Dr. Richey attended the East Tennessee School of Preaching and Missions (now the Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies), where he earned a BBS degree. After 20 years of successful ministry, he attended Amridge University, where he earned a MA in Professional Counseling, and in 2022 he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, with a leadership emphasis, from the University of the Cumberlands.
Dr. Richey is a core faculty member in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at Freed-Hardeman University. He is also a counselor, coach, clinical supervisor, and consultant at Better Living and Counseling Services, LLC. He is a licensed counselor in Georgia (LPC), board certified (NCC), and a certified counselors supervisor (CPCS). He is also a registered telehealth provider in the states of Florida and South Carolina.
Dr. Richey is a trained EMDR therapist (EMDRPT-II) and holds a certification in neuropsychotherapy (NPT-C). He is a member of several professional organizations, including the ACA, AACC, AMHCA, CPCS, CSI, LPCA, NBCC, and SACES.
Dr. Richey has traveled extensively. He has lectured on every continent except Antarctica, throughout the southeastern United States, Colorado, and New Jersey. His goal is to visit every state before age 50.
Dr. Richey is married and has two children. His hobbies include travel, hiking, golf, and flying. He enjoys following the Atlanta Braves and the Tennessee Volunteers.
